Update from the Swim Moms (4.19.21) – Morgan, Becky and Allyson
We are beyond excited to be putting the finishing touches on our swim season plans for this summer. Our sincere thank you to those who joined us last summer for our conditioning program, we think it was a great way to keep our kids swimming while dealing with difficult pandemic restrictions. While the world still isn’t back to where it was in the summer of 2019, there are a lot more things we are able to do this year. We are able to offer a competition season for our swimmers and are working with ESA (Eastern Swim Association) to develop a schedule and some basic guidelines for the meets. So stay tuned for a lot more details once we have them finalized.
For those who may be new to competitive summer swimming, the MSC Swim Team consists of 9 weeks of swim instruction focused on friendly competition, team spirit and lots of fun. The dues paid to join the team enable your swimmers’ participation in dual meets, an intrasquad meet, and many other fun activities that we are hopeful to have this summer. (The annual Pancake Breakfast, pizza parties, stroke clinics, dry land exercises and an end of the season swim banquet to name a few.) Summer swimming is a special opportunity for kids to create friendships and memories that can last a lifetime. We encourage all new eligible swimmers to join the team, and look forward to seeing our returning swimmers
back in the water!
We are pleased to welcome back Mark Spinola for a seventh season as head coach and assistant coach Aiden Spinola back for a second season. Joining us as an additional assistant coach this summer will be Eli Holm! We will certainly miss Megan and Tyler as they move on to their full-time careers out of state, but are really excited to see what the new coaches will bring to the team!
Swimmer registrations will be completed online at murrysville.swimtopia.com. We will be accepting registrations from May 15 - 29. It is important to register within this timeframe so that your swimmer receives a team shirt. After May 29, a late fee will be assessed, and a team shirt is not guaranteed.
- First swimmer = $100.00
- Additional swimmer/s = $90.00 each
Online registration, which will include volunteer registration, fees and insurance information, must be completed before swimmers can participate. Each family will need to fulfill a minimum amount of volunteer hours. Volunteer jobs will be filled during online registration on a first come, first served basis. Please check murrysville.swimtopia.com before registration and click on the “Team” tab to view Frequently Asked
Questions for important information regarding the season.
The 2021 FAQ should be updated soon. Many parents like to have team apparel to wear at meets. During the registration process, you will have the opportunity to order the team shirt for yourself as well.
We will be looking for some dedicated committee chairs for this summer season. We can’t guarantee that all of our non-swim activities can take place within the CDC guidelines this summer, but we would like to have help planning for them anyway. Please take note of the chair positions available during registration. Your help is very much appreciated!
New swimmers must pass a deep water swim test at the first practice.
We are offering a team suit this year to those who would like to purchase them. The suit sale is scheduled for June 3, during evening practice times.
The calendar with meet dates and practice times will be available online beginning May 15. Evening practices will be held June 1-11. Day practices will begin June 14.
We are in need of stroke and turn judges. If interested, please plan to attend an official’s meeting, the date will be announced as soon as we have it.
